What gets built

Hand-coded, fast, accessible websites for musicians, ensembles, artists, and small organizations.

How it works

  1. Inquiry

You send the form below. Matthew replies by email.

  2. Scoping call

A short call about what the site needs to do, who it is for, and what content exists.

  3. Design direction

A look and feel for your site, shared for your feedback before anything is built.

  4. Build

The site is hand-coded and tested on phones and computers.

  5. Review

You review a private preview link and ask for changes.

  6. Launch

The site goes live on your domain.

  7. Ongoing care

Matthew hosts the site and keeps it running. Request alterations through your private page and he makes them.

Packages

Every site is hand-coded, works on phones and computers, and meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Each package is a starting point; the scoping call sets the final quote.

Matthew hosts and looks after every site he builds, so you never have to touch the code. A monthly plan covers hosting, security and software updates, backups, and a set number of alterations each month. You request an alteration, such as new dates, a new photo, or a text edit, through your private request page, and Matthew makes it.

Questions

Who owns the code and content?

You own your content: your words, photos, recordings, and your domain name. Matthew owns the code and design, and runs the site for you as part of your monthly plan. If you leave the plan, you can take the whole site with you (see below).

Who handles hosting and the domain?

Matthew handles hosting, and it is included in your monthly plan. Your domain name (like yourname.com) is registered in your name, and you pay the yearly fee directly to the registrar. Matthew connects it to your site and handles all the technical setup.

Is maintenance included after launch?

Yes. Your monthly plan covers hosting, security and software updates, backups, and a set number of alterations each month: 4 with Artist Bio, 8 with Portfolio, and 20 with Studio. You request alterations from your own private page, and the count starts again on the 1st of each month.

How long does a site take?

About 2 weeks for Artist Bio, 2 to 4 weeks for Portfolio, and 2 to 6 weeks for Studio. The biggest factor is content: the sooner your text and photos are ready, the sooner the site launches.

How many rounds of revisions are included?

Before launch: one round with Artist Bio, two with Portfolio, and three with Studio. After launch, changes are made as alterations through your monthly plan.

What if I want to leave the monthly plan?

You can take your whole site with you. After 12 months on a plan, Matthew hands it over for free. Before that, the handover fee is half a year of your plan: $120 for Artist Bio, $300 for Portfolio, or $600 for Studio. You get all the files, ready for any host.
